Susan Grow Colmey was born in Rome, NY in 1978.  After receiving a BS in Psychology from St. Lawrence University (2000), she graduated Magna Cum Laude with her BFA from Cornish College of the Arts (Seattle, WA) in 2005.  Colmey has several pieces in private collections nationwide, and her paintings have received honors at recent exhibitions.  Susan Grow Colmey is an art educator and artist currently residing in Rome, NY.

 

Her current works focus on the illusion of hyper-realism.  The drawings have the ability to trick the viewer's eye: what looks real may not actually be. Other works include large and brightly-colored portraits, usually carrying an expression that draws the viewer immediately into their world.
